COVID-19 Update

In addition to the number of communication you have received from other resources- we wanted to share with you from a SYL perspective.

As COVID-19 continues to spread, league members have questions on whether or not to attend practice.  Shelton Youth Lacrosse (SYL) Board continues to monitor the situation and align with our community and regional guidance.  At this time, we are maintaining our current practice schedule with the following social distancing provisions:

  • If you or family members within your household have recently travelled to countries listed here by the CDC as “widespread” (black or blue risk assessment level—currently, China, Iran, S. Korea or Italy) then we recommend that your son/daughter not attend practice for 14 days from when the person that traveled to that country arrived in the US;
  • If anyone in your immediate household, especially those who have recently travelled internationally, have a fever and symptoms of respiratory illness, such as cough, sore throat, or shortness-of-breath, then you and your son/daughter should not attend SYL practice (and you/symptomatic person should seek immediate medical attention); and/or,
  • Finally, if you or an immediate family member have had primary contact (defined as more than 15 minutes at a distance of less than six feet) with a person infected with COVID-19 then you should not attend practice for 14 days post contact.

These measures are precautionary and intended to protect all involved.

We ask for your cooperation and judgement.

Thanks

Respectfully,

SYL Board

Shelton Youth Lacrosse Scholarship Winners

Congrats to Jessica Perley and Jack Carr!

They both have been awarded with a $250 educational scholarship from Shelton Youth Lacrosse.

Jessica Perley - Girls winner- Jessica came up from the youth program and will look to join the club team as she attends UCONN.

Jack Carr- Boys winner- Jack also came up through the program and will be attending UMASS in the Fall to continue his lacrosse career.

They provided great essays that highlighted their learnings, friendships, and mentors from Shelton Youth Lacrosse.

Both of these worthy scholarship winners will be recognized on awards night at the high school and we wish them continued success in their future endeavours.

On behalf of all of Shelton Youth Lacrosse.  Congrats!!
